Man Struck By Truck On Busy Street Now In Critical Condition

A man who was struck by a truck after he left a local bar and wandered into traffic in a busy street was in critical condition Tuesday evening.

WACO (December 10, 2013) A 55-year-old man who was struck by a truck Monday evening as he tried to cross North Valley Mills Drive in Waco after leaving a local bar was in critical condition Tuesday evening at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center.

The victim’s name was withheld until family members are notified.

Witnesses told officers the man was at a bar before the accident, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Tuesday.

“It is believed the victim left the bar and wandered into traffic where he was hit by the pickup truck,” Swanton said.

The man suffered severe injuries when was struck by a northbound 2001 Chevrolet 2500 pickup as he crossed into the truck’s path on Valley Mills Drive near the CVS store at New Road and Valley Mills, Swanton said.

The truck’s driver stopped after the accident, Swanton said.

Officers interviewed and then released him, Swanton said.

The driver’s name was not released.
