Man Says He Was Kidnapped By Mistake From His South Texas Home

McALLEN (January 6, 2013)--A man in Alamo says he was kidnapped by mistake from his home in the town near the Mexican border, authorities say.

Jorge Cedillo told the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office that gunmen took him from his house Wednesday in Alamo and then released him Friday morning after questioning him for about eight hours.

The sheriff's office said that when he was released the armed men told Cedillo that he was the wrong person.

Sheriff Lupe Trevino told the McAllen Monitor Cedillo didn't have apparent links to criminal organizations.

The sheriff said authorities seized 800 pounds of marijuana from a car registered to him in 2008.

Cedillo, from Reynosa, Mexico, was not charged in that case.

Trevino says the circumstances surrounding the reported kidnapping leave him with "a lot of skepticism."
