Man Sentenced For Texting Texas Teen For Sex

MCALLEN (January 23, 2013)—Teofanes Salas-Campos, 40 of Mission has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for texting and soliciting a 14-year-old girl for sex, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Salas-Campos was one of three men arrested last year after federal agents, with the permission of the girl's mother, took over the teen's cell phone and Facebook account.

Salas-Campos texted the girl soliciting sex and continued to negotiate a price even after agents made it clear she was 14 years old, prosecutors said.

Salas-Campos rented a room at a Pharr motel and went to pick up the girl at a gas station when he was arrested.

He pleaded guilty in September to enticing a minor and was sentenced Tuesday to 135 months in prison.
