TEMPLE (May 28, 2014) A man who suffered a head injury when a car struck him as he crossed a street early Wednesday in Temple was taken to a local hospital.
The accident was reported at around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of South 1st Street and West Avenue R.
The man, whose name wasn’t immediately released, was walking west in the crosswalk on South 1st Street when a driver who was leaving the Temple VA Medical Center turned north onto the street after stopping at the intersection, Temple police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox said.
The driver evidently didn’t see the man, Wilcox said, and entered the crosswalk.
The front left portion of the car struck the man who then struck his head against the vehicle and then the road surface, Wilcox said.
The man was taken to Scott & White Hospital, Wilcox said, but information about the severity of his injury wasn’t immediately available.
The driver of the car wasn’t injured.
