WACO (December 21, 2012)—A 47-year-old man who was trapped under a tree that fell on him Friday evening as he and a friend were cutting it down was taken to a Waco hospital.

The two men were cutting down the tree Friday afternoon at a home at 14893 Old China Spring Rd. to keep it from falling on the roof of the house.

They planned for the tree to fall away from the house, but a gust of wind forced the tree toward the home and it fell on the victim, who suffered leg injuries.

Rescuers used a crowbar to free the man from beneath the tree.

Further details weren’t immediately available.
