Man Who Attacked Texas Police Chief Dies In Custody

HOLIDAY LAKES (July 9, 2015) Autopsy results were pending Thursday after a man who attacked Holiday Lakes police Chief Harold Douglas during a disturbance died in custody.

The death of Jimmy Lloyd Washington, Jr., 53, of Rosharon may have involved delirium and the use of a controlled substance, the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Washington knocked Douglas to the ground and the two struggled after Douglas responded to a reported that a stranger was pounding on the doors of homes Tuesday night in the town of about 1,100 south of Houston.

Some residents helped Douglas subdue Washington, who became unresponsive while he was being handcuffed and later died at a hospital.
