CORPUS CHRISTI (February 6, 2013)—Nicholas Vernon Tolmie, 52, who robbed the same Corpus Christi bank twice in 2012 and hid some of the stolen cash in his boots, has pleaded guilty in federal court and faces as much as 20 years in prison.
Investigators said Tolmie held up the Texas Champion Bank in Corpus Christi last July 11 and Nov. 19.
Police said the robber slipped threatening notes to tellers before fleeing with cash.
Tolmie was captured shortly after the second heist when police found him in a restaurant.
He had ditched the clothes he wore in the holdup and hid some of the stolen money in his boots.
Tolmie remains in custody pending sentencing in May.
