Man Who Set Fire To Texas Bar Sentenced To Prison

Print

HOUSTON (March 15, 20113)—Gabino Silva, 24, who was kicked out of a Houston bar with a friend last year, returned, set the bar on fire and then tried to keep those inside from escaping, was sentenced to 15 years in prison Friday after pleading guilty to arson.

Surveillance camera evidence from the April 2012 incident showed Silva and companion Jaime Mata barricading the front door of the bar, and then pouring gasoline at the backdoor and igniting it.

Those inside the bar managed to get out safely through a third exit to the building.

Mata pleaded guilty to similar charges earlier this month and is serving 30 years in prison.
