BEAUMONT (July 2, 2014) A man who swallowed what police think was crack cocaine after a traffic stop in Beaumont died early Wednesday.
An autopsy was ordered.
The man was the driver of a vehicle that police pulled over Tuesday night.
Officers saw one of the three passengers drop what turned out to be a crack pipe.
As officers talked to the three passengers, they noticed the driver had something in his mouth, which the man refused to spit out, police said.
During the ensuing struggle, the man swallowed what appeared to be crack, police said.
He was taken to a hospital, refused treatment, but then later had a seizure and died, police said.
The man’s name wasn’t immediately released.
