Man, Woman Charged In Weekend Stabbing Spree

HOUSTON (February 4, 2013)--A Houston man and woman were in custody Monday charged with capital murder after a weekend stabbing spree that left one person dead and two others injured.

Police said Monday Neva Jane Gonzales, 44, and Samuel Alvarado, 31, were charged capital murder in the death of Jose Maes, 46, who was killed at his home.

Gonzales and Alvarado were taken into custody without incident at the scene after officers responding to a 911 call arrived early Sunday.

They say all three victims had multiple stab wounds.

Maes was pronounced dead and the two others were taken to hospitals.

Homicide investigators say the stabbings involved a robbery attempt and were in response to a previous argument involving all five people.
