LACY LAKEVIEW (June 21, 2012)—Alva Gene Pressley, 83, who held officers at bay for several hours Wednesday at a home in the 600 block of Norma in the Waco suburb of Lacy Lakeview, was charged Thursday with three counts of aggravated assault.
He was released after posting $15,000 bond.
The standoff started after police responded just before 5 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a man with a gun.
Lacy Lakeview officers, McLennan County sheriff’s deputies, Texas State Technical College police and Department of Public Safety troopers and officers closed streets in the area and surrounded the house.
Pressley surrendered just before 7 p.m. Wednesday and was taken to a local facility for psychiatric evaluation, police said.
Officers said he was armed with a .22-caliber handgun.
Pressley was arrested after he was evaluated and found to be OK, Lacy Lakeview Police Chief Dennis Stapleton said Thursday.
