WACO (March 12, 2013)—Authorities arrested three men and two women suspected of being in the country illegally, but as many as five others escaped after a traffic stop Tuesday on Interstate 35 in the Lorena area south of Waco.

The five who escaped aren’t believed be armed or dangerous, but residents in the area should be sure to keep the doors of homes and cars locked, Department of Public Safety Trooper D.L. Wilson said Tuesday afternoon.

The organized search for those who escaped has been discontinued, Wilson said, but DPS troopers and officers from area law enforcement agencies will continue to keep an eye out for the five.

Earlier Tuesday the search was focused on the east side of the interstate in the area north of Rosenthal Road and between Robinson and Lorena.

The search started after a DPS trooper pulled over a truck on the interstate near mile marker 322 by Raymond’s Southern Kitchen, Wilson said.

As many as 10 people were riding in the truck and some of the occupants ran.
