TYLER (September 23, 2012)--The body of a 3-year-old autistic boy was found near a marina after the toddler disappeared from his family’s lakeside home at Lake Palestine a day earlier, authorities said.
Smith County Sheriff's Lt. Larry Wiginton said the body of Evan Reed was found "a good little ways" from his home Saturday but did not specify the location of the marina.
An autopsy was ordered.
Wiginton said investigators were still talking to the family.
The child's mother told authorities she last saw her son Friday evening on the couch watching cartoons.
Teams from as far away as Louisiana took part in the search.
