DALLAS (February 28, 2013)--The body of a man reported missing several weeks ago was found in a creek bed and Dallas police think he may have been killed by a falling tree.

Construction workers discovered the body of Vashana Eugene Mims, 36, on Wednesday.

Tree branches obscured the body, authorities said.

A police report says Mims and a friend planned to play basketball at a recreation center, but Mims never went inside.

He called a woman to ask about his children and said he was heading home, but never arrived, the report says.

He was reported missing Feb. 5.

The recreation center is near where the body was found.

Medical examiners have classified the death as unexplained pending a formal ruling.
