WASHINGTON COUNTY (May 29, 2014) Glenda Sommerfield, 52, who had been missing for several days, was found dead Thursday in a wooded area near her home in Washington County.
She was last seen Sunday night as she walked away from her home on FM 390 near Highway 105, KBTX-TV in Bryan reported.
Searchers found her body at around 8:50 a.m. Thursday.
Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak told KBTX she died from what evidently was a self-inflicted wound.
Searchers used chain saws to cut their way through the densely wooded area in which Sommerfield’s body was found Thursday.
Sommerfield may have been in possession of a weapon, but posed no threat to the public, the sheriff's office said earlier.
