WACO (October 18, 2013)--A sixth man was arrested Thursday after he turned himself in on a warrant charging him with possession of drugs in connection with an ongoing investigation that involves several current and former Baylor students.
Baba Fahnbulleh, 22, posted a $20,000 bond Thursday and was released from custody after he was booked on possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance charges, McLennan County Jail records showed.
Jay Kumar, 19, who was arrested early Wednesday in Hubbard in connection with the same investigation after authorities found him and several friends at a cemetery, posted a $10,000 bond and been released from the Hill County Jail.
Alexander Leake, 21; John Sebastian Lofaro, 21; Richard Brian Ostheimer, 32; and Solanga Weeraratne, 21, all were arrested in August after a three-month investigation involving McGregor and Lorena police as well as agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration and all have since bonded out of jail.
Three of the four men have ties to Baylor.
An arrest warrant affidavit shows McGregor police raided Kumar's apartment earlier this month and obtained a warrant for his arrest after reviewing texts on a cell phone seized in a raid in August on another campus-area apartment.
An affidavit shows police found large amounts of money, marijuana and other drugs in the raids.
McGregor police said the drug ring targets students but they do not think it is limited to the campus area.
McGregor authorities said they soon will turn the investigation over to Baylor police.
