PHOENIX (September 4, 2012)--The trial of the Tempe, Ariz. woman who’s the mother of missing "Baby Gabriel" is scheduled to begin Wednesday.

Trial motions were expected Tuesday and jury selection was set to begin Wednesday in the trial of Elizabeth Johnson, 26, who’s charged with kidnapping and custodial interference.

Gabriel was 8 months old when he was last seen in December 2009 in San Antonio.

Johnson told the boy's father that she killed Gabriel and put him in the trash, but then later said she gave the baby to a Texas couple.

Johnson has been jailed without bond since January 2010.

She was earlier deemed mentally unfit to stand trial, but has since been restored to competency.

Gabriel has never been found, and police don't know whether he is alive.
