KILLEEN (August 29, 2013)—Killeen police are investigating after a motorcycle that was traveling at a high rate of speed slammed into a pickup truck Wednesday night in the 2800 block of Trimmier Road, killing the 22-year-old rider.
The victim’s name wasn’t released Thursday, but police said he was a Fort Hood soldier.
The motorcycle was northbound on Trimmier when the driver of the southbound pickup attempted to turn east into a parking lot.
The soldier’s Honda motorcycle struck the front right driver’s side of the pickup and the rider was thrown from the bike.
He was not wearing a helmet, police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup wasn’t hurt.
