TEMPLE (September 14, 2013)—A motorcyclist who was taken to Scott & White Hospital in Temple Friday evening with life-threatening injuries after his bike slammed into the rear of an SUV at a busy intersection later died, police said early Saturday.
Police identified the victim as William Truitt, 23, of Harker Heights.
He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, which happened just before 6:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of South 31st Street and FM 93 in Temple.
The Honda motorcycle, which was headed west on FM 93, collided with the rear quarter panel of the eastbound SUV, whose driver was turning left onto 31st street, police said.
The motorcycle broke into several pieces.
The driver of the SUV wasn’t injured.
The police department’s Traffic Investigations Unit is handling the crash investigation.
