PLANO (August 26, 2013)—A man who was cutting grass Monday at a golf course in Plano drowned after his riding mower toppled into a pond and pinned him underwater.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, was part of a lawn maintenance crew that contracts with The Courses at Watters Creek, Plano Fire-Rescue Capt. Peggy Harrell said.
Another member of the crew saw the riding mower in the water and then discovered the man was pinned underneath it.
He was able to pull him from the water, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
He may have been trapped for as long as 30 minutes.
It was the second drowning at the course in recent months.
In June a man drowned in a large pond, but it’s not clear why he entered it.
