New Leads Developed In 1997 Murder Of Central Texas Schoolgirl

KILLEEN (February 28, 2013)—An investigator has developed new leads in the abduction and murder of Killeen schoolgirl Danydia Thompson, 7, police said Thursday.

“Killeen Police Detective Fred Harris has received information regarding this 1997 murder,” police said in a brief news release Thursday afternoon.

No further details were provided.

Thompson was abducted on April 30, 1997 from Marlboro Heights Elementary School in Killeen.

Her body was found several days later along Highway 195 near the Lampasas River.

She was last seen with a black man with a short Afro and a thick mustache who weighed about 150 pounds was about 5-foot-10.

“Homicides that occur in the past are not closed and forgotten,” police said.

Harris is asking anyone with information about Thompson’s murder to call Bell County Crime Stoppers at (254) 526-8477.
