MINERAL WELLS (December 13, 2013) Nine children were hurt Friday morning when a pickup truck rear-ended their bus at an intersection in Mineral Wells.
The driver of the truck didn’t stop after the collision, which happened shortly after 7 a.m. Friday.
Mineral Wells police Sgt. Caleb Randall says 18 students were on the bus and nine were taken to a hospital for treatment and were later released.
The others were either picked up by parents or continued to school.
Mineral Wells school district spokeswoman Karyn Bullock said the nine students were transported as a precautionary measure and described their injuries as minor.
The students range in age from 7 to 12.
Randall says police later stopped the Ford pickup involved in the accident and arrested the driver, Matthew Cougar, 26, of Strawn.
