WACO (May 23, 2014) Officers from the Waco Police Department’s Traffic Unit will be out in force over the Memorial Day weekend in search of impaired drivers and when they find them, “no” won’t be an option, police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Friday.
The department is conducting a “No Refusal Weekend,” which means drivers who refuse Breathalyzer tests will be served search warrants for blood draws.
“During these specified enforcement efforts, judges make themselves available to streamline the warrant acquisition process and help build solid cases that can lead to impaired driving convictions,” Swanton said.
“If we arrest you for endangering our community by driving while intoxicated, you will go to jail,” Swanton said.
