SAN ANTONIO (February 28, 2014) An off-duty San Antonio police officer shot and killed an armed man early Friday during a dispute at the drive-thru window of a restaurant.
The 23-year-old man, whose name wasn’t immediately released, was a passenger in a vehicle that may have bumped another vehicle in the drive-thru, police said.
The off-duty officer spoke with one of the drivers and instructed him to turn off the engine.
As he did that, the front seat passenger got out and flashed a gun, police said.
The officer shot the man, who started to run, and then collapsed and died.
His handgun was recovered nearby.
The officer, whose name wasn't released, will be placed on paid administrative duty during a review of the shooting.
