CORPUS CHRISTI (March 26, 2014) An off-duty Maverick County deputy constable died after he was attacked and robbed while visiting Corpus Christi.
No arrests have been made in the death of Deputy Constable Jose Blanco, 41, of Eagle Pass, Corpus Christi police said Wednesday.
Capt. Michael Alanis said police are seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect.
Investigators are trying to determine if Blanco was attacked before, during or after the robbery.
Police responded on the night of March 16 to a report of an injured person and found Blanco who told officers he'd been robbed.
Blanco suffered a head injury in the attack.
He was taken to a hospital, where he died the next day.
Investigators believe Blanco could have been assaulted as early as March 15 but no timetable has been confirmed.
