SAN ANTONIO (September 1, 2013)--Bexar County authorities were investigating after an off-duty deputy shot and killed an unarmed motorist in San Antonio following an altercation.
Sheriff's office spokesman Paul Berry says the incident occurred early Sunday after the off-duty deputy left his job as a security guard.
He and the other man evidently had a minor traffic accident, pulled over and started arguing, Berry said.
The deputy "fired multiple shots, hitting the other driver,” Berry said.
Berry says the driver was unarmed, but it remains unclear whether he attacked the officer.
The two have not yet been identified.
The deputy was placed on paid administrative leave.
