CORSICANA (February 21, 2014) Malakoff police Officer Ernesto Fierro was free on $85,000 bond Friday after he was charged as the result of a reckless driving investigation prompted by the death of an Iowa motorist who witnesses say was run off the road in Navarro County.
Fierro turned himself in at the Parker County jail Thursday.
He’s charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, official oppression and three counts of reckless driving.
Fierro was off-duty and riding his personal motorcycle when the incident occurred in December.
William Livezey, 70, as well as several witnesses, called 911 and reported that Fierro was trying to force Livezey off the road.
When deputies arrived, Livezey was in handcuffs and said he wasn't feeling well.
He was taken to a hospital where he later died.
