Rusty Garrett here with the weekend outlook: Saturday, rain stays with us, but should taper off by Sunday, the drier of the two days.
FORT WORTH (March 6, 2014) A Fort Worth police officer shot a teenage burglary suspect who used a tire iron to try to attack another officer, authorities said.
The wounded suspect, identified as Jaden Williams, 18, was taken to a hospital.
Information about his condition wasn’t available, but he’s expected to survive.
One officer suffered a minor injury during the incident early Thursday at an apartment complex after police responded to a burglary call.
Capt. Shawn Stone said the suspect confronted the officers, raised the tire iron and charged at one officer.
Williams was shot when he lunged at the officer, but despite the gunshot wound he continued forward and threw the tire iron, which struck the officer in the head.
The officer was treated at the scene.
The teenager faces charges that include aggravated robbery and aggravated assault against a public servant.
