SAN ANTONIO (December 6, 2013) A police officer shot and killed a student early Friday during a struggle after a traffic stop near the campus of the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio.
The student was identified as Robert Cameron Redus 23.
The campus officer's name wasn't immediately released pending a review of the incident.
Alamo Heights police Lt. Cindy Pruitt says the officer pulled Redus over for speeding and driving in an erratic manner.
The vehicles ended up in an apartment complex parking lot where a struggle broke out between the two.
Authorities said Redus was shot several times by the officer, who radioed for help.

The university's fall commencement is Sunday.
