Officer Wounded In Gun Battle Remains In Hospital

DALLAS (February 16, 2014) Dallas police Officer Joshua Burns, 30, remained at Baylor University Medical Center Sunday in stable condition after he was wounded during a gun battle.

His injuries are not life-threatening, authorities said.

The 20-year-old man suspected of shooting Burns turned himself in and was being treated for injuries he suffered in the disturbance.

Rakeem Perkins turned himself in several hours after the shooting on Saturday.

Authorities say Perkins opened fire on Burns and another officer who had responded to a complaint about a disturbance.

The officers fired back, and Perkins ran.
