GATESVILLE (October 12, 2012)—An elderly Gatesville man was injured Friday night when he was struck by an SUV while trying to cross a busy city street.
Gatesville police and fire units and a Coryell Memorial Hospital EMS ambulance were sent at about 7:45 p.m. to the 400 block of North Lutterloh Ave. where they found a man lying in the middle of the street.
The injured man, whose name and exact age were not disclosed, suffered head and other injuries and was taken from the scene to Coryell Memorial Hospital for treatment.
An officer at the scene said a GMC Envoy SUV was southbound on the roadway when the man was struck.
The driver of the SUV was not injured and was not identified.
Traffic on the roadway was diverted to other streets while police investigated the accident and crews cleared the street.
