LIMESTONE COUNTY (November 5, 2012)--A Limestone County landowner discovered a downed ultralight aircraft on his property Monday morning along with the body of the pilot.

Limestone County Justice of the Peace Freda Gremminger pronounced the pilot, Darrell Gene Sorensen, 69, of Groesbeck, dead at the scene Monday afternoon.

Lynn Lunsford, spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration in Fort Worth, said the agency was notified of the crash Monday morning.

Lunsford said the experimental Quicksilver Ultralight Sprint MX II crashed into a grove of trees.

Sorensen’s wife had reported him overdue to return from a flight.

The ultralight was discovered a little before noon Monday in a field off a private road near Limestone County Road 762 west of Lake Limestone.
