KILLEEN (April 30, 2014) Sungjin Farris, 36, was identified Wednesday as the man who died in an early-morning shooting in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Killeen.

The shooting was reported at around 2:10 a.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex in the 300 block of Wolf Street in Killeen.

Officers found Farris lying in the parking lot.

He had been shot in the chest.

He was taken by ambulance to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he was pronounced dead just after 2:45 a.m.

Authorities initially said Farris was the victim of a drive-by shooting, but said late Wednesday morning that wasn't the case.

Investigators were interviewing witnesses Wednesday.

Police wouldn’t confirm whether a weapon was found.

Farris’ family was home at the time of the shooting, police said.

The murder was the fourth so far this year in Killeen.

A shooting in March that left a teenager dead, however, was justified, police said.

Emmanuel Nangah, 17, was shot to death in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Terrace Drive after taking a shot at a person he was trying to rob.

The intended victim returned fire, police said.

No arrests were made.
