"Kimberlyn touched the lives of many people and her tragic loss has resulted in an outpouring of love and support from the community at large," Temple police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox said Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to The Point Christian Fellowship at PO Box 1306, Temple 76503.
Longbotham, who dreamed of becoming a teacher, was set to graduate in June from Temple High School and had been accepted to Texas State University.
She had been named a first team All-District catcher.
She died Saturday at Scott & White Hospital of injuries she received when a westbound pickup truck crossed into the eastbound lanes of Airport Road and struck her Volkswagen and a Toyota SUV just before 10 p.m. Friday.
The two adults and three children riding in the SUV were taken to area hospitals with injuries police described as non-life-threatening.
The driver of the pickup, who was ejected in the crash, was taken to Scott & White with life-threatening injuries, police said.
