Packages Containing Drugs Intercepted At Local Post Office

WACO (May 8, 2013)—Postal authorities intercepted three packages that evidently contain drugs Wednesday at the Highlander Post Office at 4428 North 19th St. in Waco.

The packages, which arrived Wednesday morning, were shipped from the McAllen area, authorities said.

Each weighed about 10 pounds and Postal Inspection Service spokesman Mike Sullivan said he thinks they may contain marijuana.

Waco police were called and they waited Wednesday for someone to pick up the packages, Sullivan said.

Officers detained three men at around 1 p.m. in connection with the shipment, but it’s not clear if any arrests were made.

"We want to deter that kind of activity and we were able to do so with the help of Waco police today," Sullivan said.
