By: James Warde Email

WACO (February 14, 2013)—An elderly man who was ejected from his pickup truck after a collision with another vehicle Wednesday night at a busy Waco intersection was in critical condition Thursday in a local hospital.

Police identified the victim Thursday at Wayne Bernard Ellis, 80.

He was attempted to turn east from Valley Mills Drive onto Waco Drive when his pickup collided with a 2013 Cadillac CTS, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Thursday.

Ellis was ejected when the pickup rolled over completely, coming to rest on its wheels, Swanton said.

It’s not clear whether Ellis was wearing a seat belt, Swanton said.

The name of the Cadillac driver, who was not injured, was not released.

The accident happened at around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
