WACO (December 6, 2012)—Waco police released security photos Thursday of one of the two men wanted in the robbery of a local convenience store during which a clerk was injured in an exchange of gunfire.

At around 9:20 p.m. Sunday, two men, one of whom was armed, entered the Snacks convenience store at 2901 North 18th St.

The 48-year-old clerk, whose name wasn’t released, was also armed, however, and he and the robber exchanged gunfire.

Both would-be robbers fled, police said, but the armed man returned to the store and he and the clerk exchanged gunfire for a second time and then began struggling over the weapons.

During the struggle the store clerk was struck several times with a gun in the head and face and suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.

The robber escaped with the clerk’s gun and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The clerk was taken to a local hospital.

The armed man was black, bald, about 5-foot-9, weighed about 210 pounds and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and tan pants.

The second man was also black and was short with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black shorts, police said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the man shown in the photos or the robbery to call either Detective Charlotte Matthews at (254) 750-7615 or Waco Crime Stoppers at (254) 753-HELP.

Callers don’t have to reveal their identities, police said.
