Rusty Garrett here with the weekend outlook: Saturday, rain stays with us, but should taper off by Sunday, the drier of the two days.
BLACKWELL (July 21, 2014) A pilot who was killed in the crash of his single-engine plane in rural West Texas was identified Monday as Weldon Pat Oden, 71, of Blackwell, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.
DPS Trooper Fred Biddle says the wreckage of Oden’s plane was discovered Sunday night about 7 miles west of Blackwell in Nolan County.
Oden took off at around midday Sunday from a nearby private airstrip.
Relatives reported him missing after he failed to return from the flight.
Officials believe Oden earlier had been working on his plane, a Kitfox.
Federal Aviation Administration authorities are trying to determine what caused the crash.
