CRAWFORD (September 16, 2013)--A pilot from Lorena was forced to land his small airplane Sunday morning on a rural highway just west of Crawford, but after repairs was able to take off again.
The pilot, who was alone in the Beechcraft single-engine plane, was not injured, Chief McLennan County Deputy Matt Cawthon said.
Cawthon said at around 9 a.m. Sunday the pilot discovered a fuel line problem with his airplane and was able to find a straight stretch on Highway 185 between two sharp curves.
He landed the airplane on the roadway and was able to taxi off the pavement to the shoulder.
The pilot contacted an aircraft mechanic in Gatesville who came to the scene and repaired the fuel line.
Cawthon said the pilot started the plane's engine, taxied back onto the pavement and took off.
