BROWNWOOD (October 8, 2013)--A pilot suffered burns in the fiery crash of his single-engine airplane while attempting to land Tuesday at Brownwood Regional Airport, the Department of Public Safety said.
Investigators are trying to determine what caused the Beechcraft to crash into some trees about 1,000 feet short of the runway.
Brownwood police Assistant Chief James Fuller did not immediately know the pilot's name or have details on his burn injuries.
Fuller said the weather was calm at the time of the crash, which an airport worker reported at around 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Officials are trying to determine where the flight originated.
Records show the plane is registered to an owner in Silver City, N.M.
