ANGEL FIRE, N.M. (March 4, 2013)—Four people from Texas who were killed Sunday when their single-engine airplane crashed during takeoff at an airport in Angel Fire, N.M., 150 miles of northeast of Albuquerque were identified Monday.
New Mexico State Police identified the pilot as John Phillip Verhalen III, 33, his sister, Sara Verhalen, 41, and her daughter, Chloe Marie Jameson, 13.
The fourth victim was identified as the pilot's girlfriend, Jennifer Woodward, 26.
Earlier the airport’s weekend relief manager Carl Shilcutt told the Albuquerque Journal that the four people aboard the plane were members of a family from San Antonio and news reports identified them as a couple and two children.
A spokesman said he didn’t have information on where the victims lived, but the FAA says the plane was owned by a company in Scottsville.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
