Police: Fired Employee Killed Texas Barbershop Owner

DALLAS (June 22, 2013)—An employee whom a barber in Dallas fired returned to the shop and opened fire on his former boss, police say.

Charles Dewayne Hooks, 30, was jailed Saturday on a murder charge.

His bond was set at $250,000.

Sr. Cpl. Melinda Gutierrez identified the victim Saturday as Alejandro Fernandez, 29.

She said Fernandez fired Hooks on Friday.

Hooks is accused of returning to the shop later and shooting Fernandez, who was taken to a Dallas hospital where he later died.

Officers arrested Hooks a few blocks away from the shop.

Further details weren’t immediately released.
