CALDWELL (March 27, 2013)--The parents of a toddler who drowned in a motel bathtub in Caldwell have been arrested for child endangerment and drug possession.

Michael Fredrickson, 36, and Samantha Lange, 24, were arrested Monday.

Caldwell Police say they found methamphetamine in the room at the Caldwell Motel in which the couple was living in with their two sons.

Last week, the couple’s 1-year-old, Aiden, was found dead in a bathtub, and their 2 year old son was taken by Child Protective Services.

"They didn't show any concern or sincerity after I told them what they are being charged with. They didn't fight, they didn't argue,” said Caldwell Police Captain Charles Darling.

Darling says the two parents were at the Burleson County Courthouse Monday morning for a CPS hearing in an attempt to get their 2-year-old son back from state custody.

According to a CPS affidavit, the parents were on drugs when either the mother or the 2-year-old sibling put Aiden into the tub and turned on the water.

The affidavit says the parents passed and woke up to find the baby floating in the tub.

Aiden was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"When I got through interviewing the parents, I went straight to the scene and during the search we located illegal substance in the motel room,” Darling said.

The 2-year-old is still in CPS custody.

The affidavit also says that the mother, Samantha Lange was involved in two previous CPS investigations because her children tested positive for drugs at birth.

Fredrickson and Lange were held in the Burleson County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bonds.
