WACO (October 11, 2013)-A Waco man was held Friday in the McLennan County Jail after police serving a drug search warrant found a cache of weapons and body armor in a home.
Edward F. Alvarado, 41, was ordered held in lieu of bonds totaling $90,000, charged with possession of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone, four counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and two counts of possession of body armor by a felon, McLennan County Jail records showed.
Drug Enforcement Unit officers from Waco police served a search warrant Thursday on a south Waco home after they got a tip there might be a large cache of drugs there.
While officers were searching the residence they found four firearms and two suits of body armor, both of which are illegal for a convicted felon to possess, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
Swanton did not describe the type of weapons recovered.
