WACO (November 15, 2012)--One person was seriously injured in an attack early Thursday morning in a home in a Waco neighborhood.

Officers were dispatched at around 4:40 a.m. to the home in the 10000 block of Hiawatha where they found the female victim, who was taken by ambulance to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center with serious injuries.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said investigators believe the assault was not a random act.

A crime scene unit was sent to the location to process the scene, Swanton said.

Swanton said detectives are making headway in the investigation but no arrests have yet been made.
