KILLEEN (September 14, 2013)--Two men who were shot during a robbery early Saturday morning at a residence in Killeen were in stable condition in local hospitals and police were looking for four suspects in the violent home invasion.
Officers were responding to a report of a disturbance at the home at 2007 Schwald Road at around 12:15 a.m. Saturday when they were advised that the two shooting victims were nearby in the 2200 block of Garrett Drive.
The men, ages 48 and 30, told officers four men wearing masks forced their way into the home and demanded money.
One of the victims tried to flee toward the back of the house, but was shot in the leg and the other, who tried to escape toward the front of the house, was shot in the back, police said.
The 48-year-old victim was taken to Carl R. Darnell Army Medical Center and the 30-year-old victim was taken to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
Both were listed in stable condition Saturday morning.
The four would-be robbers left in a vehicle, headed south on Schwald Road.
Descriptions of the four men and the vehicle in which they escaped weren’t available.
