TEMPLE (August 13, 2014) A woman whose body was found early Wednesday morning in the swimming pool of the Temple apartment complex where she lived was identified Thursday as Ruthie Murphree, 44.
Preliminary autopsy results indicate she was the victim of an accidental drowning, but investigators are awaiting a final report before making a determination, police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox said Thursday.
Officers were sent at around 4:10 a.m. Wednesday to the Twin Oaks Apartments at 601 Twin Oaks Dr., in response to a report that a woman was on the bottom of the pool, Wilcox said.
Murphtree was wearing what appeared to be a swimsuit and a T-shirt, he said.
Members of the Morgan’s Point Dive Team responded to assist in the recovery of the body, Wilcox said.
Murphree was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
It’s not clear how long the woman may have been in the water.
