WACO (September 24, 2012)—A Waco man was in custody Monday in Bryan in connection the shooting death of his wife and abduction of her 9-year-old daughter.

Carnell Petetan, Jr., 36, was in the Brazos County Jail Monday awaiting transfer back to Waco after he was charged with murder.

The charge stems from the death of his wife, Kimberly Petetan, 41, who was shot repeatedly in the torso during what police say was a heated argument at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Landing Apartments, in the 2500 block of East Lake Shore Drive in Waco.

The Petetans were married, but weren’t living together at the time of the shooting, police said Monday.

The woman’s 9-year-old daughter was missing after the shooting and police were preparing to issue an Amber Alert when they learned that Carnell Petetan was detained after a traffic stop in Bryan and that the girl was with him.

She was not injured and was later released to family members, police said.
