BELLMEAD (February 28, 2013)--Bellmead police were made an arrest Thursday after a man stole a car and other valuables from another man with whom he was riding.

Gerald Harvey, 41, was arrested Thursday at a house in the 400 block of Campground Road in Bellmead, police said.

He was taken to the McLennan County Jail, but his name did not appear on an online listing of inmates late Thursday afternoon.

The 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse two-door sedan stolen Wednesday hasn’t been recovered, but police said they found another stolen vehicle at the residence where Harvey was arrested.

The victim told officers he was giving another man a ride Wednesday afternoon when he stopped near the Bush's Chicken, at Loop 340 and U.S. Highway 84, Bellmead police Detective Michael Miller said.

When the driver stopped, Miller said, the passenger pulled a knife and demanded the victim's wallet, cash, cellular telephone and his car.

The victim got out as the man drove the car away.

There were no injuries, Miller said.

The victim described the suspect as a heavy-set white man who was wearing a black T-shirt and had dark facial hair, Miller said.
