Blustery and cooler both days with highs Saturday in the low 60s after morning lows in the mid and upper 30s! A bit milder in the lower 70s for highs on Sunday.
TEMPLE (August 17, 2013)-- An early morning encounter with two people suspected of being intoxicated leads to two officers and a firefighter being injured.
Temple police say at 2:30 Saturday morning, an officer was investigating someone suspected of being intoxicated in the 200 block of Southeast HK Dodgen Loop.
According to a press release, the suspect was combative.
Other officers and Temple Fire and Rescue were called in.
While being restrained the suspect received scratches on his knee.
He was checked out and then was and taken the Bell County Jail.
But also at this time, a tan Lexus traveling east struck the back of a patrol unit causing the car to strike the first unit and both police and fire personnel.
Two officers were taken to Scott & White Hospital with minor injuries.
The firefighter received minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.
Both officers returned to duty that night.
The driver of the Lexus was identified as Gary Bruce Couch, Jr., 28 of Temple.
